YOU DON’T HAVE TO WALK A BEGONIA
We are delighted to welcome Masha Silchenko for her solo exhibition in Berlin, opening Friday, November 26th, 2021, with a concert by Poemo.
Masha Silchenko (b. 1993, Odessa, Ukraine) lives and works between Hamburg and Paris. She studied at Tokyo University of the Arts and École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Her practice weaves together patterns that repeat, mix, and transform elucidating myths and nightmares through sensitive interpretation. Emotions, dreams, visions, and feelings accumulate in her work without hierarchy or argument. Rather than producing them, she accompanies and situates them, seeking places where they might survive in a world that demands reason or erasure.
The opening features a performance by Poemo (b. 1992), a Berlin-based musician and sound artist whose ethereal ambient compositions are rich with field recordings and voice work. Inspired by the relationship between sound and environment, his practice investigates the recontextualization of sonic and melodic structures within artistic and natural spaces.
